On October 26, 2017, according to the petition filed by the U.S. domestic industry, the U.S. Department of Commerce (“DOC”) initiated an antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CVD) duty investigations on Chinese forged steel fittings. In the CVD investigation, a company based in Beijing (the “Company”) was selected as mandatory respondent on November 30, 2017. 

However, because the Company’s products have their own characteristics, after detailed preparations, the international trade team of G&P law firm submitted significant documents to the DOC to demonstrate that the products manufactured and exported by the Company differ from the subject merchandise in terms of raw materials, technical specifications, usage, etc. On January 4, 2018, the DOC issued a letter to the petitioner’s lawyer, asking to provide additional explanations on the product scope. 
On January 8, 2018, the petitioner’s lawyer filed a letter in which it explicitly agreed to exclude all products manufactured by the Company from the investigation. G&P law firm assisted the Company to preliminarily obtain a product exclusion, with a concerned amount of several millions US dollars.
